Ah, I didn't realize there was a difference, but Adriel actually got a bag with an extendible charm rather than a mokeskin pouch. I can't figure out how much Mokeskin can carry, but I think the medicine bag around his neck is closer to what Mokeskin pouches are in that it is leather, though it doesn't have the 'only the owner can get things from it' the mokeskin pouches have. It is waterproof, though - it can pretty much tolerate most natural elements of nature unlike non-magical leathers. But if it is destroyed, everything in it is also destroyed.
It also doesn't transform with his horse form like I mentioned before. The leather thong that goes around the neck also expands to fit the horse instead.

It will be a pose similar to that if Art says ok, only his hands over Art's hands to show him the correct hand position and grip. This way you can describe it if that happens Right now, he is very close to Art, but hasn't directly touched him so that Art doesn't scare and fall

Anyway, just to explain further, most of the Navajo rituals need a lot of time to perform from what I have read. Magic done through sand painting requires it to soak in the light of the stars for at least one night, any kind of large ceremony requires multiple people performing it and major healing falls under that category. They also commune with the stars, considering them beings, and evil spirits like the wendigo are those stars that refused to move on - turning greedy instead and using their powers selfishly, but that they need to devour humans to sustain their immortal lives. And use of other people's blood and stuff is frowned on and considered borderline taboo unless it is willingly given since it can be used as materials for curses and stuff.
Taboo magics in the Navajo beliefs are those that require actual human sacrifice, usually in the pursuit of power, immortality, etc. But there are those that do it because Navajo also immensely fear death - they believe the state of death is much worse than the state of life. There is no heaven or hell, but the place that the spirit go is not good. The fear is so bad that they will not openly discuss it with most people, and the exact details of the afterlife is theories that are formed by the individuals themselves
Which, tbh, is very strange to me since they also believe they originated in an underworld that was flooded, and the spider woman saved them by bringing them out of it along with the Holy People (spirits) that later turned into the Star beings and other things.
I plan to have Adriel lay down sand paintings as part of the 'wards' at night - good for a one time use of minor healing and to keep non-magical animals out of their camp, and only in an emergency would he attempt to use blood as wards in a magic similar to Harry's blood wards. Plus wandless elemental manipulation if he had to, but like I mentioned before, it takes a lot out of him, so it would be in a battle where he might have to raise up a stone wall to cover Art while he fought with weapons rather than magic. Also something along what Fleur did with her dragon, though nothing on that kind of scale - more against a less powerful magical creature, or maybe influencing regular animals.
So nothing super powerful or godlike, it's pretty much things regular HP spells could cover, just cast in a different way with different materials. Are you good with that?

Shape and length of the spearheads he is making, but mainly black obsidian with blue topaz edges They would be really cheap stones, still are. Can usually buy them in the south western states for the change you have in your pocket.

Because my brain is a traitor that hates me and my need for sleep.... Who wakes up less than 5 hours later at 4am?! Anyway, these are the boats I had in mind since I really do need to close some tabs. Row boat examples with the storage bench being the seat in the back. I like the way the second one looks. Would probably be highly uncomfortable, and Adriel would want one with a tarp so Art (or other white men in future expeditions) doesn't burn. Or the smaller 29ft version 1929 Christ Craft. The cabin looks small from the outside, but there's actually 2 sets of bunk beds in about a 5x7 room, and a small kitchenette/dining/seating space in the 38ft version (top). A small fridge, a few cabinets, and the top deck with the wheel with the bottom deck a viewing area. Video has a one that was recently fully restored, and this one was the one that cost $400 in 1932 which would be 1600 pounds or 320 galleons (not including enchantments, so I would just round that up to 350-400). Not sure what the 29ft one was sold for, but definitely cheaper Fanboat with a tarp cover, can seat up to 6 + captain, but still wouldn't be good for journeys longer than 4 hours without risking sunburn Those are all the smaller crafts for that time period that I can find that doesn't use sails - there were steam boats also but they were either giant things, or tiny little tug boat type things from what I'm seeing. I can imagine a boatyard managing to talk a hesitant Adriel into picking up something similar to a Chris Craft that is powered by magic, though he would probably forgo the more expensive enchantments like wizarding space for living quarters I think. Or he could have gotten a covered fantail boat style - that or the rowboat would have been his own choice if he had buying for himself or for dark-skinned people. But he's also thinking about future expeditions and using it as an emergency backup with other teams, so I think he might go with a chris craft style for calmer seas or giant lakes. There were a few others also mentioned that were small commuter engine boats like the chris cutter, but they are all one of a kind builds that had cost the same price as a few houses in 1925 ($10k+) lmao. One of them belonged to Al Capone. Most luxury boats from that period were the ones that were a lot bigger, like 70+ feet, cause engine boats weren't powerful then so they were only used on smaller crafts while yachts were sales or steam. Seems like the Elto engine made in 1926 was what made smaller custom made commuters available, then the Chris Cutter was the ones built without custom starting in 1928. What do you think, or do you know any other boats that could potentially be used that doesn't use sails?
