Ok so we have a vague plot of some adventurerers (thats not a word XD) who go exploring a tomb or finding atlantis or maybe exploring a newly found pyramid or whatever. Harry Potter but after graduation.
Ok so some 'house keeping' details. do we want them to be both from Hogwarts or maybe one from hogwarts one form somewhere else, did we want to sprinkle in some romance with it or just keep them co -workers / friends, do they work for the ministry or perhaps gringotts or are more free lance / self employed. Also if i remember correctly, in harry potter they know what happened to Atlantis. I don't remember what XD but i think i remember my hex homework mentioning it once. But we could always ignore that if we choose to.
once we answer these questions i think we can figure out more of what we want to do

One too many ers for that to be a word, yep. But I shall think of it as adventurers that are being extra adventurey,,, The latter not being a word lol
I would take what HEX teaches with a grain of salt, there is nothing official with Atlantis as far as canon or wiki goes. I was actually pretty angry that they tried to pass moderately recent the tragedy of the slaughter of the Nepalese family off as a curse made 10 generations back in a lesson 7 or 8 6th year Curse lesson - that's the equivalent of saying that 9/11 happened because of Chizpurfles.
Anyway, yeah, we can do whatever we want imagination-wise for Atlantis if we want to go that route
I would say no romance (though I swear there could have totally been a thing between Godric and William at one point), at least not during the first adventure. Maybe it can develop in a second or third RP? I would also say whatever schools we want our OCs to come from should work as well. We could have our characters meet up through a wanted ad one of us writes up in a newspaper - the ad can actually be the start of the RP.
I also think we should be different professions, like Historian/language expert and a curse breaker/archeologist for example. This way we can have a bit more leeway in abilities for world travel and daring deeds Quick Links 4/23/23To general World NotesNaxos Curse/Atlantean Party planning -- Atlantis planning 2 -- Cave Wall Prophecy Demeter District People / Hellenistic Order DeetsAphros 1 / Aphros 2 / Aphros Wizarding SpaceFantasy Art for ancient ruins and Atlantis ideasFantasy Art for islands and potential island and creature ideasFantasy Art for diving and some more creature ideasAphrodite shopping Part 1 / Part 2Lost City of Z planning <---this post and the following 2 posts Boat Blueprint RP LinksArtemis/Apollo statue shopping / Clothes/Wigs P1RP boat plans / Boat tour Greece benefits 5/19/23 - Cave of Zeus - Forty eight hours with artifact and site, ten percent value up to a fifty thousand finder's fee, living expenses and cost of the dig to the Hill and the District, Magical Permit for Archeology, a Residency Permit for magical and muggle sectors, and open qualification for magical citizenship with the residency time waived. oh XD just one too many ers. its fine XD
ah ok, yeah that sounds not good. So we can totally do atlantis if we wanted! that could be a lot of fun, have it kind of like an entire under water humanoid city, with people that are probably not merfolk ut also not really human either. could create an entire story of what really happened ect...
lol like when godric was like 'take my bed"? XD i promise i didn't mean it like that. Just trying to show godric's kindness and generousity. And oh defiitly, i don't like romances that are that quick. there needs to be a slow build up, an 'i love you but i don't know it yet', a realization, a longing from afar wishing desperately they could tell the other but 'we are friends'/'we work together' and 'it would make things awkward if they don't reciprocate the feelings' and 'it would ruin our friendship', and then SOMETHING that makes them go 'i can't take it any more i havve to, i must tell them how i feel'...
i like that wanted ad idea, though would a historian and linguist be a wizard/witch, since they don't really teach much history other then maigcal (which is taught by an old ghost whose so boring he literally passes out during his own lectures), and i think they also teach ancient runes as an elective later on if i remember right. but its not like they arebeing taught latin, greek, spanish ect... ? i mean it wouldn't be impossible just much more difficult. Especially i don't think there's like... school after hogwarts?

Yeah, when I read "Take my bed?" I was like huh, that sounds like the start of a porn. Then I thought about it more and the time period, plus his profession, and realized there would have been nothing strange about it to me character because caravan travel meant close quarter living, sharing inn rooms was a common thing back then with the same gender, and even houses were rarely more than 2 rooms.
I agree with that romance analysis - it's creepy irl to suddenly declare love to someone after 2 weeks, so it shouldn't be any different in RP.
Barty Crouch was a language expert, while Bagshot was a historian. He was also a diplomat and a dark wizard hunter - you could even argue lawyer or parliament member as well. She was also an author, most likely a teacher in some capacity, and who knows what else with her long life. Even Dumbledore could be a professor, language expert, politician, and an esoteric historian =D
I noticed that as a trend in the wizarding world - almost everyone that worked had more than 1 field of expertise, but those that had more than 3 were considered 'Great Wixen!' There were the paper pushers like Percy, but most of them were young or had no ambition.
History could be good in other schools, but there are also people who will see it as a hobby and do their own research even if they went to Hogwarts. Ron and Harry didn't really have the drive for study, but Hermione knew everything that was needed including history - starting with Hogwarts, A History.
Runes was 3rd year along with Arithmancy, Care, Divination, and muggle studies. 5th year electives are the proverbial unicorn - you hear about it, but it's not in the books or movies so who knows if it is actually canon or not. But those include Healing, Alchemy, magical portaits, and magical languages according to some fanfics and stuff I've read. Even if it isn't a school class though, it could be something learned through self study, family traditions, other jobs, hired tutors, etc

lol! yeah it does kind of sound like the start of a porn XD but i was thinking more along the lines of william probably doesn't get to sleep in a bed often, and he was hurt. And in my opinion, giving up your bed for someone else is one of the most selfless acts. So it was more along those lines XD but yeah that did kind of sound like the start of porn by accident XD kind of like "oh step brother! I'm stuck in the dish washer! please help!" XD.
Agreed! its just not great and realistic XD
mmm interesting. it's been a bit since i read the books. they all got destroyed in a hurricane about 9 years ago and i haven't had the room for books. Soon i will though. I'll re buy them. So its obviously possible to be a historian or something.
Would you prefer to play the historian / linguist, or the curse breaker / archealogist type?

Ahahaha this made me cackle xD That's like a line from a terrible hentai or an 80s B-rated porn film hahahaha
If you do digital books, you can find pdfs online easily and convert them to whatever format your e-reader uses if it doesn't read pdf. Harry Potter books are available on all sorts of public sites for schools, libraries, etc. I recently donated my hardcover set because I don't read them, can't read them anymore after figuring out glaring plot holes and my total dislike of Dumbles and Snape.
I'm fine with either one, I have a general idea for both, though those are just examples so if you have other professions you want to mix that you think might be good, it would work. Defense/Magizoologist expert could work with a runes master/historian, for example, etc.

lol XD exactly its also like such a stereo type of porn XD
eh im moving and will have the room soon. some books you need physical copies of . the library here actually has a small section where you can buy books. paper back is fifty cents hard covers are a dollar and last time i went they had half blood prince hard cover so i bought it XD
i kind of a vague idea for either of them too XD though i think perhaps the historian / linguist.
Would you prefer a male and female, two males, or two females? And if its male female, which would you rather play?

I RP better as a male, so I would prefer to play one. It's up to you if you want to be male or female, I don't mind M/M or M/F pairings if that comes about later. Also don't mind interracial pairings either, as long as its not something really strange like a merfolk/centaur or giant/goblin thing.
If you want to be the more bookish one, I think I would have fun with a Runes/Defense combo. I think it would leave a weakness in physical traps, a strength in curse breaking if we work together, and the ability to try to figure out enchanted objects or defend the both of us from monsters.
It actually makes me think of The Mummy movie. I loved that movie so much xD

I believe i play better males too but i can play female. I don't mind a m/m pairing either! Lol that reminds me of this thing i saw where it was like "What if your parents were a mermaid and a centaur, and thanks to the punnett square and genes you ended up getting both human halves? So your half mermaid half centaur but you just... human" LOL! But yeah that just.. wouldn't work out logistically XD. I think depending on what time period we decide to put them in, modern or sometime in the history, we could definitly have some fun with a m/m. So would you prefer more modern times, or something in the past?
I think that sounds great, we could definitly have some fun with these two
oh i recently watched all 3 of those movies! they are really good. it will kind of be like that cause brendan fraisers character could easily be the curse breaker / archeaologist and the historian lingust could be um the girl whose name i forget XD LOL!
i think once we figure out what time period we want we could maybe make some bios!

That is a legit question haha
I think any time from the early 1900s to modern day would work for me! Or we can go ancient times, but I would probably have to poke at some history depending on the time and region lol. Roman empire is probably my weakest - there is very low interest for me there beyond their technological advances and how it shaped the world. I love the early exploration eras when mankind was spreading out over the world, as well as time periods with the worship of primordeal gods.
Evie/Evelyn was her name - I don't crush on female characters at all, but if I had a bit of bi in me, I would have totally crushed on her lmao. I was so unhappy that the actress was changed out, but the new ones also did the character justice so I just thought of it as a person who just got a makeover. I don't remember actor names anyway
Do you have a favorite time period?

lol it is right! lke its possible XD
oh i think ancient times wouldn't make all that much sense any way, since... wouldn't they be exploring the ruins from ancient times? I was thinking at the earliest, absolute earliest like the late 1800s. But i think keeping it in the 1900s is perfectly fine maybe sometime in the 30s or 40s? THat way technological advances of the 20s, but also depending on the year, no depression. But 40s also gotta be careful cause WW2. Maybe 20s would work too, with the booming 20s and also (im an anthro major) there was this boom of fascination with "arm chair" archaeologist, and it was also kind of the start of anthropology with um oh gosh i know his name. there were two guys who were basically the birth of anthropology, one was jewish and in the 40s hid in AUstralia with the aboriginese there but there was an earlier one who studied as well. i literally had to write essays on both of them and i can't remember their names LOL. But, 20s was a big time for anthropological and archaeological study. Lewey i think his name was... there was also in the 20s a husband and wife who were archaeologists and went on digs together and found lots of dinosuar bones. So 20s might be a good time period!
i didn't even realize her actor was changed LOL
yes but like all over and i don't think they are usable for this XD

This is where imagination could come in and, to us muggles, these ruins would have been the homes of ancient gods, but to magicals, it could have been a race of modern day wixen that accidentally time travelled to the past, and warded the crap out of a location to try to figure out how to return to their time. Or even a race of ancient magical beings similar to the fae which is how humans got magic, or even a multitude of other things.
We can do something like that in a later RP though so we don't derail this one haha
Do you know how long it took me to remember that Harrison Ford is Han Solo and Indiana Jones? 2 years! My best friend kept insisting, I kept arguing that it was impossible, and he finally got his hands on Indiana Jones and sat me down and made me watch Star Wars and Jones back to back. Still couldn't see it. So he tossed the boxes at me and told me to read the cast, and I was in such disbelief! I remember characters a lot better than actors, but I was such a fan of Evie that I was able to catch on that it was a different person in each movie.
30s sounds perfect - Grindelwald is rising, on the human side of things X-rays and other invisible radiation energies were a fascination in muggle sciences, the Tesla/Edison war is already settled (sadly, Edison won. It would have been way better with Tesla). Africa, South America, Arctic regions, Canada, Australia, etc, still have a lot of unexplored areas that are rich with mythology, history, and legends.

that sounds like for another rp, this is more archaeological study and that would be a bit different but we can so do something like that later!!
oh gosh ive never seen indiana jones but i know that XD. That makes sense though, i didn't catch it XD i had no idea it was different LOL.
30s sound perfect then! I think we just need to make bios i probably won't until after the new years event is over XD LOL but i think we got it all figured out! for now at least. as we go we can figure out more details and such

omg, Indiana Jones is the best archeology/adventure movies! The early ones, anyway - you can take or leave the crystal skull. I liked it, but most people didn't. I did not like the 'Young Indiana Jones' spinoff, though.
In the movies, I would put his profession as Teacher (college professor), hero (collects artifacts to keep them out of the hands of nazis and greedy private collectors - he donates them to museums), adventurer, and trap specialist. Some of the traps are brutal haha
I think I want my guy to be in his late 20s =D I'll make a bio after surgery, though, so it might take a week or so once I come down off the worst of the pain meds and am no longer falling asleep left, right, and center lol

I saw Indiana Jones as Indiana Jones, I saw Han Solo as Han Solo...
I almost never see the actors unless they are very distinct - like RDJ is. And Arnold Schwarzenegger. Can't really mistake them as anyone but them no matter the movie.
Surgery is on the 3rd... 5:30am. Going to be washing the doggo today, making sure I can't trip on anything in the house - so no toys and stuff from my nephew's visits on the floor, getting my giant dragon plushie moved somewhere else (it is almost 20lbs and I use it as a chair sometimes) and straightening my hair and stuff so I won't have to worry about it for the next 2 weeks. My hair is very strange, often takes tentacle form if it feels like it isn't getting what it wants, and will strangle people if we share a bed. If I straighten it with a hot iron, it will behave, and will stay that way until I next get it wet.

ok i know you got your surgery and you won't be around for a while (and i hope your doing alright!) but i uh got inspired? Also yours doesn't need to be this long XD. Also i realized i forgot to include sexuality but since we agreed on m/m i don't think it matters all that much.
Name: Artemio ‘Art’ Reyes
Age: 32
School (if Hogwarts, house as well): Hogwarts, Ravenclaw
Wand: Hornbeam, Kelpie hair, twelve inches, slightly springy
Appearance:
Personality:
Artemio is a very reserved person, he much prefers the company of books, articles, and documents to study over people. He is extremely intelligent and knows it, when explaining something he might seem as though he is making the other person feel dumb but he is not doing it on purpose. He doesn’t have the best people skills. He likes being alone. Due to how often he is alone, or in a library or studying, he is often quiet, and not talkative. Except when talking about certain topics in history, then he can be rather excitable.
Skill Set:
Excellent researcher, can read any map, can also read and translate many ancient languages, he also knows preservation techniques, the dewy decimal system, and other archival techniques.
History:
Artemio was born to a witch mother, and a muggle father. The marriage was controversial at the time due to their different magical status, and also she happened to be white while he was Hispanic. The different races controversial in the muggle world, and the mixing of magic with muggle controversial in the magical world. They had everything against them. But, their love prevailed. And they had Artemio, as well as a couple of other kids.
Artemio was put in muggle school once he was old enough, since it was unclear if he would show signs of magic or would be born a muggle. It was hard for him in the muggle world, due to his ethnicity. But he didn’t let it bother him. From a young age, Artemio rather enjoyed learning. He would study and ace every exam, he would often read ahead or read books that weren’t required but still educational. He would read articles in the news paper about the newest technology and what was happening all around the world. And then at eleven, he got his acceptance letter to Hogwarts.
He was quickly sorted into Ravenclaw, the Sorting Hat barely even touched his head before it yelled it out making the table of blue and black erupt in cheers. And, he quickly loved Hogwarts. He aced every exam, and read ahead, and was checking books out of the library that he wouldn’t need to study for years. His parents also made sure to owl him the muggle news constantly, sending him articles and clippings about world events. Though making friends wasn’t any easier, even though those at Hogwarts didn’t care that his father was hispanic there were those that cared he was muggle.
As he got older, he delved into his studies more then ever, taking all his required classes and multiple electives. He took Ancient Runes, Arthimacy and later Advanced Arthimacy, Ancient Studies, Alchemy and he even took Magical Theory which most avoided since it wasn’t a graded class and considered ‘boring’. He spent most of his time in the library, with his head in a book studying or writing an essay. In what little free time he had, he could be found pouring over a book he checked out from the restricted section, with permission from his professors of course.
After Hogwarts, he did an apprenticeship under a magical archivist, in one of the best magical libraries in the world. The Oxford library in the UK of course has a magical counterpart that has a secret magical entrance. He loved it, he was able to do research, and be around books and read and learn how to archive and preserve documents and books. Of course one apprenticeship wasn’t enough. He then also did an apprenticeship at the British Museum, in fact he did an apprenticeship in both sides the magical and the regular one, where he could learn twice as much.
By the time he was twenty eight, with multiple apprenticeships under his belt, years working in libraries and museums, he was considered one of the best magical historians and had a few accolades in the muggle world as well. He studied ancient runes and ancient languages, ruins, and hieroglyphics, and was considered an expert in ancient languages. He could read ancient maps, ancient languages, and could give hours long presentations on almost any time in history. Friends? None. A girlfriend or boyfriend? Never even crossed his mind. Reading ancient mesopotiam? Easy.
But, over the years he had accumulated a number of sources about the Ancient City of Atlantis. Both magical and muggle. The magical seemed to confirm it had been at least a real place. The muggle seemed to just know it disappeared, some even considered it a myth and that it never really existed. It… fascinated him. It, along with a few other odds and ends that didn’t add up, became almost an obsession for him. He hoarded materials on it, as well things like Cleopatra’s death and tales of the Amazon. But Atlantis seemed to be what he was most focused on. And he hated that there was so little on the subject.
By the time he was thirty he had made up his mind. He was going to find someone who was more… well equipped to adventure and he was going to find Atlantis. If he couldn’t find material on it he was going to make it himself. He spent the next two years getting the things they would need, grants, the materials, ancient maps, every source he could find, and now that he is ready to go he is putting an article in the Daily Prophet to search for a curse breaker or adventurer to help him on his journey.
Special Items/ Equipment (if any):
He has made sure to bring ancient maps as well as ancient resources for the best knowledge, as well as two swords for cutting through dense woods, and a first aid kit full of muggle and magical healing aids.
Other: As much as he loves reading, you will never find him reading a fictional or fantasy book. He hates them. He would much rather be reading a history book, something non fiction, an educational.
