Name: Toygar Efendi
Age: 24 Birthday: June 14th 1628 Height: 6ft Weight: 155lbs Occupation(s): Navigator, accountant, lore master, scribe, pirate Languages spoken: Ottoman Turkish, Anatolian Turkish, Greek, English, Arabic, Berber, Dutch, Lingua Franca, and some Spanish, Indian, and French --First five languages would have been learned from childhood. The rest were learned on ships. He is currently trying to be proficient in Spanish and can already pick through a little Creole because of the other languages. Nationality: Ottoman Empire - Smyrna of the Anatolia region Religion: Sea gods. Really, he isn't picky, but he will pray to whatever sea god that comes to mind when shit goes south. Weapons/fighting style: 4 flintlock pistols, recurve bow (65 pound draw, 400 yard range), and a pair of daggers or a cutlass/short sword/saber and small buckler if he absolutely has to get close. Typically he will prefer to stay long range in the back or he fight dirty in close combat. Appearance: Can be well groomed or unkempt depending on time spent away from civilization, but always as clean as possible. Loves beaded jewelry made by natives and clothes from his homeland. History: Youngest son of the Estefani merchant family with two older brothers, he had been raised to support his older brothers with the family business. He learned to read, write, and keep track of the accounting books, and he also learned how to read and navigate by maps and by stars since he was expected to make sea journeys. At the age of 16, he was sent on his first sea voyage with his oldest brother, however the ship was attacked by barbary pirates with the cargo and important passengers seized and the rest put to death if they were too injured or put into the slave hold to be sold. His brother was ransomed back to his family, however the captain decided that Toygar was 'too pretty' and forced him into seven years of servitude rather than ransom him back. His first few months were spent as a 'cabin boy' until the sailing master fell in battle and he was the only one that knew navigation. With a more respectable position on the ship, he had more freedom and an actual share of the treasure. By the end of the first year, he loved his new life since there were no more expectations on him and he was enamored by the sea. His life as a rich merchant's son had more chains than some Ottoman slaves had, and he was glad to finally have a chance to shape his own life. From there, he learned lores, superstitions, occult knowledge, sea monster tales, and other oddities from the various places he got to visit. At the end of his seven year contract, the Mediterranean region no longer had much mysticism left to keep him intrigued, so he paid for passage to Tortuga where there was more lore to be found and new places to learn about. He jumped around ships for about a year before he set himself up as a lore master in the tavern known as 'Port Grog' where others could come to him to pay for knowledge he had. He wants to go back out to sea, but he has yet to find a ship or a captain that he wants to follow. Really, there were too many damned privateers in the region in service to one imperial crown or another, and he didn't want to bother with a contract for a captain who would end up with a mutiny from their own stupidity. Or bother with a captain that was too cautious and didn't understand the risk/reward ratio. Or a ship that didn't have enough room for him to set up his chests and maps. Or be offered a position that didn't offer him enough shares or was below his abilities. He might look soft, but he's been a proper pirate for nearly a decade!

Name: Captain Johnathan Silverhand
Age: 30 Birthday: January 16th 1622 Height: 5ft10" Weight: 185lbs Occupation(s): Pirate, Musician, Captain, Mercenary, Navigator Languages spoken: English, French. Spanish, Lingua Franca, Pidgin Nationality: None, born at sea he claims no nationality or loyalty except to his crew, and the occasional financier. His father was French, but his mother died when he was young. Religion: Fuck all that. If the Gods have a problem with him, they can come down and tell him themselves. A good whore, a bottle of Rye and gold in your coffers, that's all the religion a man needs. Weapons/fighting style: Pistols, muskets, saber, rapier, crossbow, grenades, cannons, whips, pretty much anything found on his ship can be turned into a weapon. He despises the "wait and see" approach, preferring to be on the front lines with his men, wading into the thick of it and cutting down any bastard dumb enough to get in his way. He relies more on instinct and his gut more than maneuvers and tactics, although he can plan a decent strategy if needed. His only fighting style would really be known as berserker, and the crew know not to stray too close in battle as his bloodlust could just as easily hurt friend as foe. Appearance: Generally scruffy and usually brooding, the only time he really enjoys himself is when he's fighting, fucking, drinking, or causing general chaos. His hair varies in length depending on when they've last made port. History: Johnny was born the son of a gun, aboard the pirate ship Poseidon's Wrath. His mother was a deck wench named Chloe and it was she that named him Johnathan When she died, he was raised by the captain and crew and took on his alleged father's last name of Silverhand. Whether this was a legal name or not, he neither cared nor looked into. He eventually became first mate, serving under two captains before he was able to barter for a plundered ship, a Brigantine he called the Crimson Blade, and he's been sailing her ever since in search of Gold, Adventure, and chaos, although not always in that order. His current first mate, Mr. Joshua, does his best to reason with Johnny when he feels he's going a bit far, but at the end of the day Johnny calls the shots. Johnny also plays the lyre and the Mandolin and when he's not piloting, can often be found drinking and playing his instrument, whether for the crew, or for no one in particular. He's not overly complicated, often preferring to punch or shoot first and ask questions later. Although his crew is somewhat rowdy, he is a fair captain that wants what's best for his ship and his crew. He doesn't really bring up his past much, preferring to just live within the moment and let the rest take care of himself. He may end up at the end of a rope one day, but damn, the ride will be worth the price of admission!

S h i p 🧠L a w s I. Every man has a vote in affairs of moment; has equal title to the fresh provisions, or strong liquors, at any time seized unless a scarcity makes it necessary, for the good of all, to vote a retrenchment.
II. Every man is called by list in turn for their share of the prize for miscellaneous clothing to be allowed a shift of clothing. Any that take money or jewelry from the share will be marooned on an (inhabited/habitable) island, and any who steal from the ship's coffers will have their throat slit from ear to ear. Stealing from each other will be settled through the Quartermaster or a duel if an agreement cannot be reached with the slighted party choosing the weapon of choice on land. Pistols and ranged weapons are done at ten paces.
III. To keep their piece, pistols, and cutlass clean and fit for service, and all community areas clean of personal items and filth.
IV. Crew on board ship will be allowed to walk unmolested. First offense is the removal of an off hand, second offense is castration, and third is death. The gender of victim or offender does not matter. --IV a. Punishments for raping a fellow crew member can be worse depending on the severity of the situation or repeat offense. --IV b. If a child develops from such a union, the offender will give up all shares to the victim and the victim retains the right to choose what to do with the child. If the punishment is death, then all effects from their will goes to the victim and/or child. --IV c. Sneaking a slave on board ship to use as a pleasure slave is not tolerated - they must be shared by all as though a free and hired worker and must be paid for their services. Breaking this rule can result in above punishment and/or the reversal of roles should they choose to sign on as crew with the offender their indentured servant.
V. To desert the ship or their quarters in battle, is punished with death or marooning. Being too drunk for battles counts as desertion, and being too drunk for duties counts for the following punishment if no harm comes from their negligence; first offense is twenty lashes, second offense is fifty, and third be a marooning on the first inhabited island.
VI. No striking one another on board, but every man’s quarrels to be ended on shore, at sword and/or pistol until first blood or an agreement is reached - whichever comes first.
VII. The Captain and First Mate to receive two shares of a prize. Ranking officers; the quartermaster, sailing master, boatswain, and gunner, one share and a half. All other officers one and quarter. Regular sailors one. Stowaways will work for their passage until they are allowed to sign on or they leave ship. The Ship gets first split needed for provisions and repairs before treasure is split, and upgrades if a haul allows for a share to be of one ducat or higher if an upgrade is needed.
VIII. There will be no discrimination based on race, sex, or religion, and no religion will be officially observed on board ship. There will be no religious holidays or sabbath days free of work unless there is no business and a majority vote calls for it.
IX. Captain can veto a voted decision if backed by First Mate and Quarter Master. Captain cannot be voted out - should he be indisposed then it will be the first mate to take over, then the Quartermaster, then the Sailing Master, then the Boatswain. If all are indisposed, then the remaining officers will form a counsel and vote with the crew on what to do.
X. Captain's vote is worth three, First mate and ranking officers are 2, and all else have one vote. Votes can be made for time off in between runs, retrenchment should rations or gold be running low, the freeing of any special or of note prisoners or slaves, ship upgrades, officer tribunals, ports to celebrate/rest at if/when there is a choice, 'suicidal' ventures, ... Notes
XI. Contracts with a time on it can only be broken under the following conditions: Marriage with children on the way, pregnant female crew member, maiming or crippling, and death. Those that do not serve the full term can be penalized for up to seventy five percent of their 'retirement' funds. All members are entitled to up to 100 gold coins per year in this way, with remaining time being penalized based on circumstances of leaving. (If you die in battle, then your next of kin will receive the full remaining amount. If you die because you got drunk and broke your neck falling down the stairs, expect only a twenty five percent payout. If you abandon your post, then only punishment will be your payment.)
XII. Betting will be allowed when there are no tasks or chores to do. There will be rules to the betting. --XII a. Bets cannot contain things like indentured servitude, slavery, or IOUs --XII b. A senior officer who is not participating in the gambling need to be requested to note down bets and sign off on them. --XII c. Things that can be wagered are money, personal possessions, and chores (no more than one week in total, valued at one eight per task unless it is particularly onerous, in which the officer will put a price on the chore worth no more than a full silver). --XII d. All money and possessions must be presented at the time of the bet. --XII e. If you are caught cheating, you lose all winnings for the night, will be tasked to remove the rats from the bilge and clean it out, and will be banned from future betting for a month. If there are repeat offenses, then punishment may include marooning at the first inhabited island.
XII. The youngest that can be recruited will be fourteen years of age having finished puberty. --XII a. Stowaways as young as 12 can be kept, but without pay and as a cabin boy to be trained to join the crew when they hit 14. --XII b. Any children born on ship will be let off at the first port. The parent(s) leaving with the child will be given the rest of their retirement share if they opt to retire at this time. --XII c. Exceptions to this can be made through way of voting on a case-by-base basis such as a career pirate becoming a single parent and the child is old enough to stay out from under foot.
---We need to talk about what all can be voted on at this point I think; the ones I listed so far are only examples. Also:
-Can you think of additional rules? Will there be a curfew or anything? Want to change any of the punishments? Should there be special reward cases?

In an alternate world where instead of being the captain’s boy Tpygar was enslaved, abused, and whored/slaved out, tell me how he would have escaped and how it would alter his personality against pirates or everyone?

Tell me a story of unrequited love and loss. It doesn't have to be about Toygar per say but maybe witnessed first hand from his perspective.

Tell me in a world where Toygar had unrivaled, unmitigated power, how would he rebuild the world to his wishes, and what would he do with those with differing perspectives that would oppose him? Would he rebuild the world to his wishes, and what would he do with those with differing perspectives that would oppose him?
